Noura Kamal joined the VISCOM team in May 2015 until 2017.The main focus of her work was on the multiple usages, meaning and explanation of kinship and family terminology in the Qur’an. She holds a PhD in Social and Cultural Anthropology, University of Vienna. Her thesis is about the scopes of agency in Nablus (Palestine) under immediate siege and under regular occupation. Social suffering and resistance are main topics in her work. She graduated from Birzeit University in Palestine with a master's degree in Sociology. Currently she is a Post-Doctoral researcher at the Institute for Social Anthropology, Austrian Academy of Sciences, focusing on the Yemeni post-1962 intellectual discourse regarding the changes in the perception and understanding of tribes and tribalism in northern Yemen.
